NEWS:
Through our membership of the British Shooting Sports Council (BSSC) we have today been advised of a paper being put forward to the Home Office by DCC Andy Marsh of ACPO Firearms & Explosives Licensing Working Group (FELWG) concerning increasing firearms licensing fees, and believe that this may be discussed by the Home Office far sooner than anticipated - within a week or so.
The proposals that I have seen suggest that the fees being sought by the Police could be doubled, and will also include charging for one-on, one-off variations.
At the BSSC Technical & Research Committee meeting yesterday, a number of attendees pointed out areas of police inefficiences around the country where cost savings could be made. I have been asked to collect any further examples to be submitted to BSSC as soon as possible - and no later than next Monday(!) These could be used to assist in rebutting the fees increase proposal.
If anyone has examples, please e.mail them to me at chairman@ukpsa.org
Please do not just post them on the Forum and hope that I will collect them from there, and do not just hit 'reply' to this email as it won't come to me!
